The Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960 (Section 17) and the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Rules, 1961 provide for division of a Co-operative Society. The procedural details are given the Act and the Rules.Any society may, by resolution in this section referred to as a “preliminary resolution” passed by 3/4th of the members present and voting at a special general meeting called for the purpose, resolve to divide itself into 2 or more societies.
